The NFL world was hit with some pretty shocking news earlier today when the Tennessee Titans opted to part ways with head coach Mike Vrabel after six seasons. He finished his tenure with the Titans having been a two-time AFC South champion, the 2021 Coach of the Year, and leading the Titans to one AFC Championship appearance. Vrabel is extremely highly regarded by both players and executives across the league, but after two lackluster seasons the Titans decided that he was the problem and opted to move on.

Hey, Titans – if the coach you’re firing immediately comes priority number one for numerous teams across the league, do you think maybe the coach isn’t the problem with your last two seasons?
Perhaps, trading away AJ Brown in his prime and trusting quarterbacks Marcus Mariota, Matt Cassel, Blaine Gabbert, Malik Willis, Ryan Tannehill, Joshua Dobbs, and Will Levis to lead the most important position in sports for your organization could have played a bigger role?
Well, nonetheless, Mike Vrabel is now job searching, and I know exactly where he should land.
The Chicago Bears.
Ryan Poles and Kevin Warren should look no further than Wrigleyville for the inspiration to make what would surely be one of the biggest coaching splashes this offseason. When the Chicago Cubs finished the 2023 season, a late season collapse had just seen them narrowly miss out on a wild card spot in the playoffs. Despite coming up just short, President of the Chicago Cubs Jed Hoyer and Chairman of the Cubs Tom Ricketts were clear in the belief of their manager, David Ross, heading into the 2024 season.
“We have real organizational momentum; I think it’s really important to continue to build on that,” said Hoyer. “Obviously Rossy’s a big part of that.”
“I think that in terms of getting players comfortable and getting motivated, I don’t know if there’s anyone better,” added Ricketts. “I think Rossy had a great season and the players played hard for him. He’s our guy.”
Easy as could be, plain and simple!
That is, until the Milwaukee Brewers decided they were tired of one of the best managers in the game, and Craig Counsell became available.
Sound familiar, Bears executive office?

The Bears once again concluded the regular season having narrowly missed the playoffs. There are promising pieces, sure. The defense has greatly improved, DJ Moore and Justin Fields seem to have a real chemistry, and the team did win four of their last six games. The rumor around Chicago is that Matt Eberflus has done enough to show he is worthy of returning for his third season, as the Bears are desperate for organizational stability.
This will be one of the most pivotal offseasons in Bears history. The Bears have secured the #1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but still have to decide if they are wanting to take a quarterback or continue the up and down ride with Justin Fields.
What if the stability you seek can be better found with Mike Vrabel at the helm?
If I’m in the Chicago Bears front office, I’m making the call.
Just like their friends in Wrigleyville did.
